Our Town

Our town is casual-sleek, laid-back elegance and filled to the brim with coffee shops, tea houses and boutiques. We walk, hike, bike, bus, and like to play in the sun during our beautiful Northwest summers. We like our layers, drink "in-between" spicy and sweet chai, and like to hide in a book store that takes up a whole city block. Breweries and restaurants litter the city, so we are never short on excellent food, beverages and fun!

With a river dividing the city in two, the west side is graced by high-end, beautiful galleries, art schools, Portland State University and Powell's Books . The Pearl District and downtown host "First Thursday", where on each first Thursday of the month galleries stay open late to showcase new work by local, regional and national artists. On the east side, coffee shops and boutiques have become galleries for local and emerging talent. A freer spirited "Last Thursday" occurs on the east side, when hip street likes N.E. Alberta - home to Ella's Boutique - opens its doors and sidewalks late in Spring and Summer. Parades, "Art Hop" and other fun arts and crafts events are abound in Portland.

We love the outdoors! Rain or shine, you'll find people playing on the snowy hillside of Mt. Hood during the winter, and taking trips to the Columbia River Gorge, the coast, or the Sandy River during the summer. Portlanders' favorite playground is Forest Park, the country's largest urban forest reserve. Over 5,000 acres of old growth and second growth forests have become Portland's paradise, with over seventy miles of trails!

 Alberta Street, home to Ella's, is full of delicious flavors and sounds. For an amazing cup of iced or hot tea, stop by Townshend's, a cozy tea house not but four blocks from our door. And since shopping has the potential to make you hungry, why not eat flavorful, comforting and healthy Thai cuisine a block away at Thai Noon? Fashion, food, music and art mingle on Alberta, with Halibut's showcasing local jazz every night (and sinfully tasty fish'n'chips) and right next door, Ella's shows new art each month that compliments the lovely clothing we sell.
